INSTALLATION

OF THE

SEAL

1.1

GENERAL

Before

the

seal

is

installed,

the

bearing housing

and the

propeller

shaft must

be

checked

to

ensure absolute

.

cleanness.

Taking

into

consideration

the

tolerances shown

in the

seal installation

drawing,

the

connecting

dimensions

in

way of the

propeller

hub,

the

bearing housing

and-

the •

propeller

shaft

must

be

checked.

It

must also

be

checked

whether

the

design

length

of the

seal

can be

kept

to

.

The

seal shall

only

be

taken

from

its

plastic

bag

just

before

commencing

with

the

installation.

The

wood blocks

which

are

provided

on the

housing flange

for

the

protection

of the

liner

can be

removed later.

During

the

installation

(and during

a

later

removal)

of

the

seal

the

liner

must

under

no

circumstances

be

withdrawn from

the

casing

in

order

to

avoid damage

to the

surface

and the

sealing

ring

lip.
