For recordable DVD media, such as DVD±R and DVD±RW discs, you can manage the disc using the “Disc” in the

setup menu.

The DVD±RW Disc function allows you to format, finalize or protect your disc. You can also make it compatible

with most other DVD players using “Make Compatible” or “Finalize” for DVD+RW or DVD±R/DVD-RW

respectively.

Press [SETUP]. The Setup menu appears.

Use […†] to select ‘Disc ‘.

Press [√] to go to the disc operation sub menu.

Format the disc (DVD±RW)

Use […†] to select the ‘Format’ menu.

If you want to format the disc, press [ENTER].

To confirm, select ‘OK‘. To cancel, select ‘Cancel‘.

If you select ‘OK‘ and press [ENTER], all the contents of the disc will be

lost.

Make Compatible (DVD+RW)

'Make Compatible' for a DVD+RW will automatically create a menu screen

for navigating the disc. This menu screen is accessible by pressing [MENU]

or [TITLE] in other players or any computer equipment with a DVD loader.

Press […†] to select ‘Make Compatible‘.

If you want to make the disc compatible, press [ENTER].

To confirm, select ‘OK‘. To cancel, select ‘Cancel‘.

If you select ‘OK‘ and press [ENTER], your disc will be make compatible.

Disc Operation

• If you load a blank DVD±R (±RW) disc, it will be initialized (formatted to enable recording).

• Do not start recording until disc initialization is complete.

• If you load a DVD±R (±RW) that has already been used you can record a program immediately.

Disc Initialize

• ‘Make Compatible’ can take up to 3-4 minutes depending on the type of disc, how much is recorded on the disc,

and the number of titles on the disc.

• If you do not make your DVD+RW disc compatible, your edits will not be recognized by other DVD players.
